WAVES PROVISIONAL TITLE

Research dynamic aimed at formulating playful processes of superposition and transgression between different ways of investigating Reality. It is based on three fundamental pillars: Water, Knowledge and Memory.

Translation - thought of as expansion - is the founding element of a theatre of superimposed and transgressed possibilities. This is what interests us. Any trans-action occurs in a context where it is possible to become aware of the different levels that make it up, despite the forms necessary for its realisation. To the proponents of binary logic, translation requires compenetration - and therefore its necessary overcoming. In binary logic, ‘practice’ and ‘theory’ only exist separately. Translation - as we understand it and practise it - aims to combine the fixity of the theoretical image with the movement of sensitive knowledge in order to try to hear what lies behind the possibilities of uniting languages that appeared a priori to be distinct, and to ‘pass them on’ in simple, accessible, artisanal and surprising artistic forms.

The device, designed as a receptacle, seems complex at first glance. But this complexity is not a complication. It is our necessity: that of a multi-factorial system that cannot be reduced or separated, especially if we seek to revolutionise it. As human beings, we are part of this complexity. It inhabits us, it flows through us, it describes us, it transforms us. Therefore Water. Water allows us to take a cross-disciplinary look at this complexity and to raise the major issues we are called to confront: ecology, patriarchy, systems of domination and colonisation; in order to raise the question of the evolution of human living conditions within the ecosystems that this species crosses and transforms, as part of a ‘viable social project’.

Water - simultaneously Reflection and Reflex - is a mystery. We have chosen to place mystery at the heart of our work. One possible etymology of the word mystery symbolises closed lips. What cannot be said. Crossing a space where presences, perceptions and realities overlap in an attempt to glimpse what is silent in the hollows, the dark spots, the black or white holes, that's the direction our work is taking here.
